A successful career as a student-athlete can open many doors. It can be a pathway to the professional game, and it can be the academic foundation of a career in the student's chosen field.

In either case, it is essential that the prospective student finds the right level of competition in both the sporting arena and the classroom, as well as good chemistry between coaches, team-mates and geographical location.

My own positive experience as a student-athlete at Northwestern University opened up opportunities to compete as a professional and ultimately a long career in the golf and sports industry and it is rewarding to help others towards the same experience.

The process to finding a good match between student and institution can be daunting. It means knocking on the right doors, asking the right questions and making smart decisions along the way.

After an effective process with Norwegian Junior Girls' Champion, Julie Kleppe (pictured), I am inspired to provide the guidance and the tools to help other young prospects navigate the minefield and find their best possible match.

With close counsel, the student will always be encouraged to take charge of all steps of the process themselves which can be a very rewarding and fulfilling experience.
